Aquilegia aurea

This a remarkable aquilegia, being the only yellow-flowering member of the genus in Europe. It is a Balkan endemic, know from Bulgaria and Macedonia with possible occurrence also in Greece. In Bulgaria it may be seen in the subalpine belt of Vitosha, Rila, Pirin and Western Rodopi mountains. The flowering period is from June to July. This is a strictly protected species.
