Dianthus microlepis

A small tufted dianthus, which is endemic for the mountains of the Western Balkan Peninsula – Bulgaria, Greece and Macedonia. In Bulgaria it is found above 1400 m on both silicate and limestone in the high mountains – Central Stara Planina, West Frontier Mts, Vitosha, Pirin, Rila, Western and Central Rodopi Mts. The flowering period extends from June to August.
