Saxifraga ferdinandi-coburgii
One of the most beautiful Bulgarian saxifrages. It is a Balkan endemic, found in Bulgaria and Greece. In Bulgaria this plant is found only in the Central Rodopi, Pirin and Slavyanka mountains, where it grows on calcareous and marble rocks. The flowering is from May through August. It is threatened species, evaluated as Vulnerable in Bulgaria. The plant is named after the Bulgarian king Fredinand I, who was passionate botanist and generously supported the Bulgarian botany.
